Homeward Bound

That's right, as many of you already know, I'm headed back to the
lovely, green, wet Northwest for a visit. I'll be in the Seattle area
from 23 January - 19 February, and I couldn't be happier to be escaping
the cold & snow! It started snowing again today, after the thaw last
week - I wish this weather would just decide what it wants to do!

Anyway, my main point is that, while I'm in the US, I probably won't be
sending any newsy/witty/amusing/mind-numbingly boring/insert your own
adjective bulk e-mails. But I will be checking my mail, so feel free to
write if you want to.

I don't have much else to say, I'm trying to wrap up all my classes
before I leave. So far, I'm only failing one student, but he's failing
all 3 of my classes, so I think one is enough!

See some of you soon, and hope to hear from the rest of you!

Happy New Year!

Or, as they say around here, Szczesliwego Nowego Roku! There's an
unusually large number of vowels in that expression, but it's still not
much fun to say!

I hope everyone survived the holidays. I made it through the carp
dinner - even tried some carp. It's not my favorite dish, but I didn't
spit it out. New Year's Eve was pretty fun, I went with one of the
teachers in my school to a little town about an hour from Walcz, to the
home of some friends of hers. Her husband & the friend work together on
a narrow guage railroad that's almost 110 years old. We took the train
out into the forest & had a bonfire to welcome the new year. Before &
afterwards we sat around at their house & ate lots of food. And some
people played guitars and sang - they're part of a group that's been
playing music together for 30 years. I left the next day with a CD,
book of lyrics, t-shirt, and an invitation to their next gathering at
the end of February. I meet the nicest people in Poland! :)

Winter has arrived - again - and I think it means it this time. The
lakes are frozen, there's snow on the ground, and it doesn't show signs
of going anywhere soon. The weather reports are for more snow &
temperatures below zero (celcius). Good thing I brought all those wool
sweaters!

The women in the office are exclaiming over my typing speed - they're
very impressed with me. Just imagine if I actually typed correctly! ;)

I think that's all I have for this time. I'm off to Poznan for the
weekend, of course. Greetings to all, and again, Happy New Year!
